A New Champion is Crowned at the Peddlers Idol Singing Competition

MCDONOUGH, GA. – Peachtree Idol crowned the champion of the 2019 singing competition in what turned out to be a very heated contest. Donald Rucker, a primary school principal from Vision Primary in Southeast Atlanta, overcame a very talented field that drew contestants throughout Georgia. 

The Peddlers Idol Singing competition was held within the Peachtree Peddlers Flea Market and Antique Centre in McDonough, Georgia in Henry County. The competition began  September 7, 2019 with weekly audition rounds, in which hopefuls from across the south Atlanta area, tried to wow the audience and an all-star panel of judges, including Atlanta’s Carlos Glover, the Godfather of Crunk, filmmaker J Fabulous, DJ Nick Fury, and Quique Lopez (owner of the legendary venue, the Somber Reptile). Judges based their scoring on stage presence, vocal ability and audience response.

After 15 weeks of auditions, the finals took place December 7th and 14th, 2019. Finalists received trips to Miami and Gatlinburg with the winner going to Las Vegas. Additionally, the winner received a professional recording from The Vault Recording Lounge, a video press kit from Dream Now Productions and a promotional Package from Panorama Press Marketing and Media.

Donald Rucker, aka Ruck, won the competition with his powerful rendition of Am I Wrong by Nico and Vinz. “as principal at a primary school, I always told my students to follow their dreams. I needed to be an example to my students and follow my own dreams.” Ruck, vowed to continue adding love and joy into his songwriting as he develops his own unique style.

There was so much talent!  I’m glad I didn’t have to be a judge!” remarked Joe Weiland, General Manager of Peachtree Peddlers.
