A.J. Roofing Contributes to Refuge for Women North Texas

A.J. Roofing and Construction, one of Frisco’s premier roofing companies, donated $10,000 to Refuge for Women North Texas in September to help offset the organization’s costs in helping disenfranchised women.

Refuge for Women North Texas is a non-profit, faith-based organization that provides long-term care for women who have escaped human trafficking or sexual exploitation. With a full staff of trained professionals, the organization offers up to a year of safe housing at no charge to the women they serve.

Women residents work through intensive programs to help them reclaim their identities, develop life skills and heal from trauma or addiction. Each woman receives weekly, individual and group counseling therapy, as well as partners with her therapist to create an individualized plan that helps her succeed upon leaving the program.

“This organization is truly exceptional,” said Mark Richardson, who owns A.J. Roofing and Construction. “We’re talking about a group of dedicated volunteers who are there for these women to help them every step of the way. The only thing that makes it possible is help from the community, and that’s what we are – the community. We’ve seen so much good come from this program that we knew we had to help.”

Mark Richardson and his wife, Kirsten, have been part of their North Texas community for over 20 years. For them, it’s about giving back.

“Refuge for Women North Texas has a continued aftercare program that does so much for the women who choose to participate. With life skills classes, an opportunity for reduced living expenses after the completion of the program, and so many other tools to help women who have so much potential, it’s really an investment in the community,” says Kirsten Richardson.
