Central Ohio engineer accepts national energy award

On September 23, 2019, MG Energy president David Metzger was recognized for his contributions to the national energy industry at the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Regional Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C.

The award, Energy Engineer of the Year, is given to five U.S. engineers (in five regions) each year for their dedication and performance in the energy industry. The Region III award, won by Metzger, covers eight U.S. states — Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. This is David Metzger’s second Engineer of the Year award.

To be considered for the award, one must be nominated. Mr. Metzger received his nomination from Rob Evans of the Northrich Company. “I am nominating Mr. Dave Metzger for this award because he has successfully initiated and implemented excellence and transparency for the customer in a way we should all hope to achieve relative to good energy efficient building system design,” Evans said. He went on to detail “Mr. Metzger is being nominated for this award due to his direct and innovative method by which he provided the Ohio Department of Corrections designs and product recommendations, as well as implementing those designs, for energy projects. His system design utilizes selected products and system configuration that provide both operational savings, system health, and ongoing equipment communications that follow not just traditional front end reporting, but direct hydronic system health above and beyond system comfort information, all with transparent daily reporting to the customer.”

The AEE Awards Ceremony is presented by the Association of Energy Engineers, a 501(c)(6) nonprofit professional society with over 18,000 members in more than 100 countries. AEE offers a variety of informational outreach programs including training, conferences, chapters, journals, and certification programs. The mission of AEE is to promote the scientific and educational interests of those engaged in the energy industry and to foster action for sustainable development. 

The AEE World Energy Conference and Expo is the nation’s largest energy efficiency conference and expo designed for business, industrial and institutional energy users. The conference addresses global energy policy, energy management services and strategies, innovative technologies, and emerging energy trends. In addition to the three-day conference program, AEE World features a comprehensive exposition as well as a full line-up of CEU and PDH qualifying seminars.
