Chicago, IL – Dec 20, 2021 – Artist and author, Elizabeth Jia, announced that her new book, “The Love of Panda Our Common Ground: The 2020 Diary From Understanding America to Understanding China,” is set for release on Jan. 8, 2021 globally. The hardcover is currently available for preorder on Amazon and Barnes & Noble and other book stores.
Elizabeth’s book chronicles her life as a Chinese woman living in the U.S. under quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic. It covers one year of her, life beginning in 2020 until March 11, 2021. The story is representative of a large number of Asians living the United States that love their homeland and the country in which they now reside, but are troubled by the misunderstandings and misconceptions that are running rampant in society.
Readers have the opportunity to see into her pre-pandemic life and the way things were before the virus became the primary headline maker around the globe. In a world held hostage by fear, death and lockdowns, Elizabeth tries to remain optimistic and inspire others.
Elizabeth writes in striking detail about the paintings she creates and the photos she takes. The author brings to life the taste and aroma of daily meals she cooked and readers are at her side as she watches TV and films. It’s an enlightening look at how she found happiness while experiencing her own very real struggles.
Individuals will see the world with a new perspective through Elizabeth’s eyes and her wish for the world at large. She leaves hidden riddles in the book for readers to discover on their own that will hopefully lead to a better understanding of themselves and others.
Endorsed by Professor Jeffery and Sonia Sachs from Columbia University, “Elizabeth Jia’s diary of the first Covid year is a wonderfully colorful, upbeat, delectable, and artistic response to the dreary, tragic, and maddening days of lockdown. Indeed, it is much more than that. It is a celebration of Jia’s two cultures – Chinese and American – and a marvelous bridge between them. Savor the drawings, recipes, pictures with friends, and excerpts from classical Chinese wisdom. Most of all, enjoy this rare treat, at a time when we so much need zestful bridge-builders like Elizabeth Jia.”
