How Wenlin Studio London aims to revive traditional hand embroideries with contemporary designs

With the launch of their collection of hand embroidered Bag Pouches, London based fashion brand Wenlin Studio shows what goes in the making of these heirloom quality pieces!

Wenlin Studio has recently launched their classic line of hand embroidered Bag Pouches. They are calling this line as Hua Pouches. They have engaged a team of artisans in Lahore (Pakistan), a city where hand embroidery used to thrive for hundreds of years.

“Our mission is to empower communities and play our part in reviving traditional hand embroidery methods with contemporary designs so hand embroidery does not become a lost art,” said Gul E Raana, Wenlin Studio founder and designer. “With all the industrial advancements, the faster the products are made, the quicker they end up in landfills. As reported by the Guardian in 2018, UK consumers sent 300,000 tons of textiles to be dumped in landfills.”

The name ‘Wenlin’ means “a gathering of cultural enthusiasts in a natural setting”, which bonds well with their vision to revive communities and cultural phenomena that is declining since the onslaught of mass production.
