Los Angeles, CA – The Greater Los Angeles Writer’s Society (GLAWS), the organizer of the West Coast Writer’s Conferences (WC2), teams up with Black Château in 2018.

Tony Todaro, Executive Director of GLAWS and WC2, and Desireé Duffy, founder of Black Château, decide to join forces to bring even more excellent programming to the renowned conferences. The partnership kicks off with Black Château presenting the Saturday Keynote Presentation, titled: A Brave New World for Women: How Dystopian Worlds Are Merging with the Times, at the Genre LA Creative Writing Conference on Feb. 24, 2018.

The panel includes an array of authors and screenwriters who are creating stories that have poignant messages in dystopian, science fiction, fantasy, YA, horror and other categories of genre fiction. It will be moderated by Diana Giovinazzo Tierney, co-host of the podcast Wine, Women, Words. Panelists include:

Black Château also presents The Wonders of Language and Culture: How to Seduce Readers and Lure Them Deeper Into Your World, which happens Friday, February 23, 2018, at the Genre LA Creative Writing Conference. This conversation features Kimberly Blagrove, Founder and Owner of Vogue Translations, in a one-on-one talk with Desireé Duffy of Black Château. They will discuss researching cultures and languages when writing fiction.

WC2 presents three conferences every year. In addition to the Genre LA Creative Writing Conference which is held February 23 – 25 in 2018, the Writer’s Conference will happen in June, and Digital Author/BCX is slated for late September/early October. Black Château is sponsoring all three, and will present panels at each. Additionally, GLAWS has invited Black Château and their authors to join them at their booth during Worldcon, happening August 16 – 20 in San Jose, California.

Todaro says, “I’m honored to partner with Desireé and her company, Black Château. She brings a fresh perspective to our programming, and is always willing to give marketing and PR advice to the authors who attend our conferences. GLAWS and WC2 has a lot going on this year, and it’s exciting to have a strategic alliance like this in place. I’m looking forward to all our adventures this year!”

Duffy adds, “Tony has built such an amazing platform for the GLAWS membership, and writers everywhere. I frequently recommend his conferences to authors who need to connect with literary agents and editors, or are ready to take their career to the next level with his amazing panels and writer’s groups. Tony and the entire GLAWS board of directors are top-notch, and I’m proud to have this opportunity for Black Château.”
