SAN JOSE, Calif. – Mar 1, 2018 – Griddable.io today announced it has closed $8 million Series A funding led by Artiman Ventures and August Capital. This investment will accelerate customer adoption of the Griddable.io smart grid platform to address the growing importance of synchronized data integration across hybrid clouds. As enterprises race to become digital businesses, the majority of workloads are expected to be in the cloud by 2020. Data architects are seeking ways to accelerate database migration and re-engineer for public clouds, synchronize data with digital innovation initiatives, and enforce new security and privacy policies. To move to the cloud successfully requires a new approach for synchronized data integration displacing legacy tools for replication, ETL, and snapshots that were designed for on-premise operation.

The Griddable.io concept was conceived by Rajeev Bharadhwaj; a serial entrepreneur with a vision to create a globally synchronized enterprise. He made a key decision to build-on versus replace traditional databases and develop a new approach for synchronous data integration. After identifying the Databus open source project at LinkedIn as a foundational technology, he recruited Chavdar Botev, the primary architect of Databus, and Burton Hipp, who co-founded a prior startup with Rajeev. Together they created the first Griddable.io product and proved the technology at design partners.
