SAN JOSE, Calif. – Mar 1, 2018 – Griddable.io today announced it has closed $8 million Series A funding led by Artiman Ventures and August Capital. This investment will accelerate customer adoption of the Griddable.io smart grid platform to address the growing importance of synchronized data integration across hybrid clouds. As enterprises race to become digital businesses, the majority of workloads are expected to be in the cloud by 2020. Data architects are seeking ways to accelerate database migration and re-engineer for public clouds, synchronize data with digital innovation initiatives, and enforce new security and privacy policies. To move to the cloud successfully requires a new approach for synchronized data integration displacing legacy tools for replication, ETL, and snapshots that were designed for on-premise operation.
“With a rapid increase in enterprise workloads in the cloud, there is an urgent need for synchronizing data between traditional databases and cloud innovation,” says Villi Iltchev, partner at August Capital. “We are excited to have Robin Purohit join Griddable.io as CEO to build on a strong founding team. He brings significant experience disrupting enterprise infrastructure software markets to accelerate customer adoption of the company’s breakthrough SaaS platform.”
Griddable.io’s SaaS platform is the industry’s first smart grid for enterprise data that enables synchronized data integration for any topology, cloud, or data platform. Flexible, policy-based grid configuration allows for the selective filtering, masking and transforming of data in transit while always guaranteeing transactional consistency. And with a run-anywhere SaaS platform that installs in minutes with minimal overhead to existing databases, Griddable.io makes it easy for enterprises to get up and synchronizing quickly. The Griddable.io SaaS platform will initially be available on AWS, Google Compute Engine, and VMware Cloud.
The Griddable.io concept was conceived by Rajeev Bharadhwaj; a serial entrepreneur with a vision to create a globally synchronized enterprise. He made a key decision to build-on versus replace traditional databases and develop a new approach for synchronous data integration. After identifying the Databus open source project at LinkedIn as a foundational technology, he recruited Chavdar Botev, the primary architect of Databus, and Burton Hipp, who co-founded a prior startup with Rajeev. Together they created the first Griddable.io product and proved the technology at design partners.
“Hybrid cloud requires a radically new cloud-first data integration approach to synchronize, transform, and integrate enterprise data with new digital initiatives. We are excited to reveal the Griddable.io cloud-first platform and easy to use SaaS offering that will be a disruptive force in the $15 billion hybrid integration platform market,” said Robin Purohit, CEO of Griddable.io.
The Griddable.io SaaS platform is now available for Beta registrations at www.griddable.io with production planned for spring 2018. On-premise containerized deployments of the platform are available today on request.
Griddable.io is a San Jose, CA based SaaS startup that closed Series A funding in 2017 from August Capital, Artiman Ventures, and Carsten Thoma, founding CEO of Hybris (acquired by SAP). The company is disrupting the $15B integration software market by addressing the new needs of digital businesses to synchronize more data in more places across more platforms at ever increasing speed while ensuring data security and privacy. Griddable.io is now shipping the industry’s first smart grid for enterprise data with policy-based services to define DB type, topology, filters, transformations, and masking. The product helps CIOs automate hybrid cloud migration and operation, build real-time applications with continuously up-to-date trusted data, and synchronize core operations with edge computing.
